DESCRIPTION:Join us for a transformative and empowering workshop designed exclusively for African\, Caribbean\, Black\,  racialized women and femmes- EmpowerHer: Celebrating Our Essence. This immersive and supportive gathering is dedicated to honouring our bodies\, embracing our sexuality\, and fostering a safe and nurturing space to engage in candid conversations about the unique challenges that ACB (African\, Caribbean\, Black) racialized women and femmes face when navigating the world in their bodies. Let’s explore the meaning of sexuality through a racial lens.  \nCreating a Safe Space: EmpowerHer is a haven where trust\, respect\, and empathy are paramount. We encourage open and honest dialogues about the challenges we encounter daily while navigating the world in our bodies. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences\, fears\, shame\, and triumphs without fear of judgment. \nEmpowerment Workshops: EmpowerHer offers empowering workshops and exercises that aim to boost self-confidence\, self-awareness\, and self-expression. We will explore avenues for personal growth and empowerment\, equipping participants with tools to navigate their journeys with strength and grace. \nEmpowerHer: Celebrating Our Essence is not just a workshop; it’s a lifestyle. We invite you to join us on this empowering journey of self-discovery\, self-love\, and self-empowerment. Together\, we will embrace our unique identities\, overcome challenges\, and celebrate the strength and resilience that define Black and racialized women and femmes. SUMMARY:Black Peer Support Training
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER TODAY for free Black peer support training!\nBlack communities in Canada face many barriers to mental health care. In order to heal\, Black individuals need to be heard\, understood\, and respected. Healing in community is key. \nThis peer support facilitation training is available to adults over 18 who identify as Black and live in the Ottawa area.  \nDeveloped and taught by Black trainers\, this course will equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to facilitate diverse peer support groups and to provide emotional and practical support to people who are facing challenges related to mental health\, racism\, discrimination\, and more.  \n•  Support your fellow community members in an important and meaningful way. \n•  Learn new skills.  \n•  Increase sense of belonging and connectedness. \n•  Destigmatize mental illness in the community. \n•  Increase Black mental health support for Black individuals and intersecting identities.  \n•  Gain valuable experience in peer support facilitation through an EDI lens.  \n\nDate and Time \nThe training consists of six online afternoon sessions from 1 p.m.– 5 p.m. (EST) \nDecember 5\, 6\, 7\nDecember 12\, 13\, 14 \nParticipants who have completed the training will receive an honorarium of $100\, certificate of completion\, and have an opportunity to join a peer support network.  \nSpaces are limited. \nFor more information\, or to register \nPlease reach out to info@canadianwomenofcolour.ca or call 613-204-4846 \n\n  \nThis initiative is a collaboration of Canadian Women of Colour Leadership Network and The Royal. \n
