DESCRIPTION:Let’s gather before summer ends: a YBF Movie Screening & Story Circle\nYBF Collective is hosting our first-ever Movie Screening & Story Circle\, a special end-of-summer gathering designed for Black femmes\, women\, non-binary\, and 2SLGBTQIA+ youth (18–30) to reconnect\, recharge\, and reclaim confidence before the new semester begins. \nWe’ll explore themes of voice\, resilience\, and public presence through film\, guided breakout reflections\, and a supportive “My Story” presentation circle where every voice is honored. \nExpect light refreshments\, meaningful conversation\, and a room that holds you as you practice speaking your truth. Whether you’re nervous about presenting in class\, craving connection before the rush\, or simply want to honor your journey before fall arrives\, this space is for you. \n🗓️ When: September 3rd\, 2026\n📍 Where: ACB Wellness Resource Centre – 610 Donald Street\, Ottawa\n🔗 Register HERE. \n\n \nRéunissons-nous avant la fin de l’été : projection de film et cercle de partage d’histoires du collectif YBF\nLe collectif YBF organise sa toute première projection de film et cercle de partage d’histoires\, une rencontre spéciale de fin d’été destinée aux femmes\, personnes femmes\, personnes non binaires et jeunes 2SLGBTQIA+ noires de 18 à 30 ans\, afin de se retrouver\, de refaire le plein d’énergie et de reprendre confiance avant le début de la nouvelle session. \nNous explorerons les thèmes de la voix\, de la résilience et de la présence en public à travers un film\, des réflexions guidées en petits groupes et un cercle de présentation « Mon histoire »\, dans un espace bienveillant où chaque voix est valorisée. \nAu programme : des rafraîchissements légers\, des conversations enrichissantes et un espace où vous pourrez vous sentir soutenu·e tout en vous exerçant à exprimer votre vérité. SUMMARY:From misnamed to reclaimed: why PCOS is now PMOS and what it means for Black Women’s Health
DESCRIPTION:Health equity requires that our medical frameworks accurately reflect our lived experiences and biological presentations. For years\, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) has been defined and diagnosed through criteria that privilege White bodily presentations\, leaving the metabolic and endocrine symptoms that present more strongly in Black women frequently overlooked or undertreated. \nThis workshop reframes the narrative. By examining the significance of shifting from PCOS to PMOS\, Dr. Laura Batson unpacks why this name change is vital for social and medical justice in Black healthcare.
