SUMMARY:Our Health\, Our Power: Understanding and Preventing Diabetes among Black Women
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging and timely webinar exploring the intersections of race\, gender\, and health through the lens of diabetes among Black women in Canada. This session will examine how social and systemic factors — including racism\, income\, and access to care — contribute to higher rates of diabetes\, while also highlighting pathways to prevention\, advocacy\, and collective wellness. \nWe are honoured to welcome Dr. Josephine Etowa\, Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Black Women’s Health at the University of Ottawa. A midwife\, perinatal nurse\, and lactation consultant\, Dr. Etowa is globally recognized for her leadership in addressing health inequities and racism in healthcare.
