The Peer Support Collective & Community of Practice is rooted in lived experience. It’s a safe, collaborative space where Black and racialized peer facilitators and trainers can come together, share experiences, and grow their skills.
Through professional development, resource sharing, and advocacy, the Collective works to ensure that peer support is integrated into healthcare, community organizations, and faith-based spaces. Our goal is to create culturally relevant, peer-led care that truly understands and responds to the needs of Black and racialized communities.
Professional development and training for facilitators in cultural competency, trauma-informed care, and peer-led models.
Safe, culturally grounded spaces where individuals can connect, share, and heal.
Advancing peer-led mental health models within healthcare, community networks, and social services.
A lasting infrastructure for peer-led support, fostering leadership and collaboration.
Ongoing training in cultural competency, trauma-informed approaches, and peer facilitation ensures that facilitators are prepared to lead groups, workshops, and one-on-one sessions.
Facilitators exchange best practices, tools, and lived insights, building collective wisdom while mentoring new peer leaders. This creates a cycle of continuous growth and sustainability.
The Collective fosters spaces rooted in trust, shared experience, and cultural relevance. These spaces empower individuals to feel supported, reduce stigma, and access broader healthcare systems when needed.
By working with healthcare providers, community organizations, and faith-based spaces, the Collective pushes for peer-led models to be recognized and integrated into mainstream services.
