01 Sep Amplifying Black-Led Solutions: Roundtable with Ontario Ministers
On August 18, 2025—while provincial leaders were in Ottawa for AMO Week—Ministers Charmaine A. Williams and McGregor, alongside MPPs Babikian and Firin, visited with Black community leaders at the ACB Wellness Resource Centre. CWCLN joined Ottawa Black Coalition partners for a roundtable, with Councillor Rawlson King joining virtually.
Alongside our coalition partners, we contributed—voicing our priorities as Black-led, Black-focused, Black-serving (B3) organizations in Ottawa. At the ACB Wellness Resource Centre, MPP McGregor and colleagues listened and learned from community leaders to deepen their understanding of community needs.
We’re grateful for the thoughtful ideas offered—especially Minister Williams’ personal words to the women in the room—which will help guide next steps to close social and economic gaps and advance Black and racialized women and femmes’ leadership, wellness, and opportunity.
Thank you to the Ottawa Black Coalition (@ottawablackcoalition) and ACB Wellness for creating space for honest, community-rooted dialogue. We look forward to continued collaboration that turns conversation into action and lasting impact.
