31 May Community Work Recognized with Black History Honour
Celebrating Our Founder & CEO, Sophia Jacob
We’re proud to share that during Black History Month in February, our Founder and CEO, Sophia Jacob, received Black History Ottawa’s Community Builder Award for Visionary Leadership.
This recognition shines a light on her incredible leadership and the impactful work the Canadian Women of Colour Leadership Network (CWCLN) does as a decisive force in advancing equity for Black and racialized women and femmes.
CWCLN offers culturally rooted services, healing-centered programming, leadership development, economic empowerment opportunities, and community-based partnerships that support and uplift our communities in meaningful, lasting ways.
At that time, Sophia joined CBC’s Ottawa Morning with Rebecca Zandbergen to spotlight CWCLN’s work, share our long-term vision, and amplify our petition calling for greater support of grassroots B3 organizations across Canada.
We are honoured by this recognition and remain committed to doing the work—with intention, community, and care.
